- Discoloration or Scorch Marks- One sign that your commercial wiring is on its last legs is the presence of scorch marks or discolored spots around your outlets or switch plates. These marks are caused by electricity arcing out of the wires and hitting the plastic, creating that burn. Even if your outlets look fine, you should also check to see if they are cool to the touch–if they’re warm, then you most likely have a wiring problem.
- Dimming Lights- Another sign that your commercial wiring may need an upgrade is dimming lights. If the lights around your facility get dimmer as you run other appliances or systems, then your wiring likely can’t support the necessary voltage to run everything at once.
